“Please Mommy let me come downstairs, I don’t like being up here on my own, I promise I won’t speak, I’ll be good. I’ll just watch telly.”

I wrap my arms around my knees, sniffling loudly and wait to see if she’ll let me come down. The tears drip from my face; my voice hitches every time I speak, I rest my chin on top of my knees and wait.

“Come on then you spoilt little brat, sit on that chair and don’t move.” I get up and walk slowly down the stairs and sit in the chair.

“Thank you, Mummy. I’m sorry if I was naughty. I promise I’ll be better.”

I sit on the chair she directed me too, and switch on the telly with the remote, I put Tom and Jerry on and wait for my Daddy to return from work.
